Thigh & Arm Reduction in Hull, York, Grimsby, Lincoln & London

Introduction

Thigh/Arm reduction surgery removes excess skin and fat from the upper Arm and inner thigh to firm up and tighten the area. The type of scar is tailored to match your specific need and is dependent on the site and amount of tissue excess but is often longitudinal along the inside of your thigh/arm with /without a transverse component. The larger the excess tissue excised, the greater the risk of complications.

Complications

  • Bleeding, often manifest as severe bruising, swelling or wet dressings.
  • Infection can lead to delayed wound healing.
  • Wound breakdown; especially smokers, obese or medical co-morbidities.
  • Delayed wound healing (greater than four weeks).
  • Numbness around and beyond scars (often improves over several months).
  • Fluid accumulation (seroma) is recognised but uncommon complication .
  • Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism are rare risks with this surgery.
  • Excessive scarring (hypertrophy).
  • Asymmetry (unequal size, shape, scars).
  • Over / under correction (subjective judgment).
